MBB NGS

NGS

Next-generation sequencing technologies (454, Illumina, Solid, Pacific Biosciences...) have opened new opportunities in evolutionary and ecological genetics, and raised new bioinformatic challenges - dealing with millions of short sequence reads to be assembled de novo, or mapped onto existing genomic resources.

Major developments in MBB:

  • de novo transcriptome assembly from NGS data in nonmodel species, within the PopPhyl project
  • ContigMaster : a program for assessing the quality of de novo transcriptome assembly by comparison to a reference
